Part of the Festival of a Neighbourhood for Lambeth & Brixton ![]() Tea & Jam is a night where professional musicians are exploring and experimenting with new sounds. Classic, laid back styles branching jazz with international music voices - come along and enjoy new music in an intimate setting. Hosted by: Rea Rea is a natural singer-songwriter. Ever since appearing in a music video at three and recording her first song at six, Rea has performed everything from reggae and 60s/70s soul and motown to jazz and Latin. "I listen to a wide variety of music and therefore I feel this is reflected through the music I create. I feel the music transcends genre, as it is what is in the heart that matters. I like to see each song as a canvas on which to paint musical ideas." Rea cites a diverse range of influences from the Hollies, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Madonna, Sting, Jimi Hendrix and Greg Howe to the crossover material of Chick Corea, Frank Gambale and Kate Bush. Her music branches classic jazz, progressive rock, funk, romantic, Celtic folk, Latin, pop and minimalism. In 2005, Rea won an international songwriting competition and has since enjoyed playing with a variety of different musicians-rock bands, jazz bands, jazz trios/duos, choirs, with flautists, lyricists and other talents. "I really believe that music can make the world go round, and that special song or piece has the power to inspire, communicate and translate what otherwise cannot be said in simple words. I feel we have a responsiblity as artists to keep filling the world with light, hope and encourage others to keep creating a better world. I am only at the beginning of my musical journey, and where it goes I'm not entirely sure but I'm looking forward to the ride. I hope you enjoy my music." http://www.myspace.com/rcqmusic Timings: 20:00 - Doors 20:30 - Jam session hosted by Rea 23:30 - Finish Thursday 21/02/13 Tea House Theatre, 139 Vauxhall Walk, Vauxhall, London, SE11 5HL Entry: £5 full / £3 concessions + referrals FREE for musicians – simply bring an instrument or sing to the doorman Group bookings are available on request: email redandblackcomms@icloud.com www.facebook.com/teaandjam More Info ![]() Tea & Jam is a night where professional musicians are exploring and experimenting with new sounds.
